On September 29th, Kizuna Travel participated in the ‘Travel and Ocean Plastics in Hakusan’ event at Matto Beach in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The event, organized by students from Kanazawa University and the local community, with participation from several local companies, residents, and many children, significantly impacted the local community. Our company supported the event by providing volunteer staff and sponsoring a tent to ensure smooth operations.

Despite the overwhelming volume of trash on the beach, our commitment to reducing waste remained unwavering. The event served as a stark reminder that our ultimate goal is not just to clean up after ourselves but to create a society where such waste is not produced in the first place.
Some trash was so large that it took five adult men to remove it, highlighting the severity of the situation. Items collected included everyday waste like plastic bottles, glass bottles, cans, commercial fishing nets, floats, fishing gear, and even signs written in foreign languages, all scattered along the beach. This diverse range of debris made us realize the far-reaching and complex nature of marine pollution.

One of the most striking aspects of the event was the dedication of the local children, who worked diligently to clean up the beach. Seeing these children picking up the trash left behind by the older generations made us keenly aware of our responsibility to address the problem.
